Interim Church Council Meeting
Highlights
April 8, 2008
Worship Committee
- Worship attendance has been over 250 for each of the two
Sundays following Easter.
- Wedding Guidelines Manual will be revised with only
mandatory changes for the interim. A complete revision is
required once a full time pastor is in place.
Finance Committee
- Offering at April 6 worship service was over $15,000. Also
very encouraging.
- Church mortgage being renewed for four years as an ARM at
5.25%.
- Stewardship Campaign- 89 pledges to date for about $21,000
per month and $30,000 for the sustaining fund. Stewardship
Task Force will send out weekly reports to the congregation
on status of budget and financial pledges to support the
budget.
Designated Pastor Nominating Committee
- COM (Presbytery Committee on Ministry) has provided the
Committee with PIF’s (Pastor Information Form) on five
potential candidates and asked the Committee to select two
candidates to interview. They are working on a schedule to
have a Designated Pastor in place in June.
Christian Education Committee
- Sunday School in place for all ages. No Junior or Senior
High School age youth are attending, so more recruitment
work is being planned for these youth.
Property Committee
- Property now secure with a combination of rekeying some
doors and changing security system entry codes.
- Work teams established for property maintenance.
Fellowship Committee
- Have organized and identified a program/schedule for eight
events through December.
- The March 30 potluck dinner was well attended and big
success.
- The next event is a potluck lunch & reception for Emerson
Wilson from Nicaragua whose mission we support on April 27
following Worship Service.
- The May event will be a reception for the residents of the
Edison Park neighborhood to update them on Covenant Church
status.
Missions & Outreach Committee
- Committee reviewing our financial commitments to our
missions projects.
- We will contact the local Brazilian Baptist church who are
looking for lower cost worship space and offer them space at
Covenant for minimum rent or no charge.
Personnel & Administration Committee
- Committee organized
- We will contract with a part time kitchen employee to use
on an as needed basis.
Evangelism Committee
- Letter to former Covenant members removed from the
Membership Rolls over the last two years will be sent out
the week of April 13 inviting them to return.
- New Member class will held Saturday, May 3, for the
several visitors who have expressed interest in joining
Covenant.
Visioning Task Force
- Developed a new Covenant Mission Statement for inclusion
in our CIF (Church Information Form) needed for the
Designated Pastor Nominating Committee.
- The Task Force will "clean up" the Our Beliefs section of
our Church website.
Presbyterian Women
- Ruth Whipple will be Moderator.
- "Hanging of the Greens" scheduled for Sunday evening,
November 30.

Tuesday, May 6 @ 7 PM at Covenant.
